Today we all went to adcock reserve

There were insects  and animals like dragon flies and Eels. Every one loved it.

Room 11 and room 8 went to Arthur Adcock reserve to discover what it was like when no one was in New Zealand. We agreed it was really fun.

Today Sean decided to change places with Helen and help Miss Ewart do the sign while reading the big book. The Cantankerous Camel - what a great book!

Fitness

With the cold rainy weather lately, it's getting harder and harder to get outside and do some fitness. Thankfully we have Go Noodle we get us moving!

Exploring Adcock reserve

Today our team ventured "over the fence" to explore Adcock Park as part of our inquiry "Our Place". The tamariki sketched using viewfinders, discovered what lingered beneath the murky waters and got to see just why we are lucky to have this resource at our back door.

Self directed learning

One of our fantastic year 5's has really taken a shine to our inquiry topic so much so that he went out after school and did some research on the Arthur Adcock reserve.
Great job Thomas

Term 1 Inquiry

On Monday we started our 2017 inquiry, and to begin the middle team classes watched the epic Maui and the Giant Fish legend. This got us thinking How did we get here? and What do we know about our own back yard? This was fitting as the theme of our inquiry is ... Our Place.
Stay tuned for more !!

Place Value

Students in Mr Morell's math class have been working really hard over the past couple of weeks looking at place value. We have learnt soo much like; identifying the value of a number, the total number of 10's, 100's in numbers upto 8 digits long (Wow that's a big number). Plus so much more.

Here are a few photos of us working really hard.

Adorn the bird with feathers
so it can fly

Rooms 10 & 11 spent their Friday afternoon getting creative with the Team Whakatauki (above) and made paper birds that they adorned with paper feathers of their own design. Thanks to Miss E for providing the paper plates!!
